Tending a Personal Website Like a Home
Some thoughts on personal websites, expression, and long-term care.
A personal website is like a home that's always changing. It doesn't need to look brand-new at every visit — but it should feel like someone lives there.
First decide what stays
I want to keep the things I actually lived through: products I shipped, wrong turns I took, questions I still don't have answers to. A website isn't a résumé in another layout — it's a space that slowly grows the scent of its inhabitant.
Content should be easy to add
If publishing a post requires touching components, configuring routes and waiting for a build, I'll stop updating it very soon. A good content system returns writing to writing itself: create a Markdown file, write, publish.
Let the technology disappear; let the expression remain.
